How do we Connect and Communicate across Space?

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are excited to share with you the learning plans for this term. Below is an outline of what your child will be exploring in each subject area:

Literacy
This term, we will be focusing on the powerful and moving book ‘A Monster Calls’ by Patrick Ness. Through this text, students will engage in a variety of activities to enhance their comprehension, narrative writing, and analytical skills. Themes of resilience and emotional depth will guide our discussions and written work, helping students to connect literature to real-life experiences.

Maths
In Maths, our primary focus will be on understanding angles and applying this knowledge to real-life scenarios and problem-solving activities. Students will explore concepts such as measuring, identifying, and calculating angles in practical contexts, helping to strengthen both their mathematical skills and their critical thinking abilities.

Science
This term, we delve into the fascinating topic of gravity. Students will learn about the fundamental forces of nature and their role in shaping the universe. To bring the subject to life, we have arranged two exciting trips:

A visit to the Techniquest Dome, where students will experience interactive activities related to space and physics.
A session with Cardiff University, led by experts in the field, to deepen their understanding of gravity and its applications in scientific research.

Topic
Our Topic for this term is Space Exploration and Careers in the Industry. Students will study the history of space exploration, current missions, and the future possibilities of space travel. We will also explore the variety of careers in the space industry, inspiring students to think about how their skills and interests could align with this exciting field.

We look forward to an inspiring and engaging term ahead.
